About the program

Rural Minds is designed by and for people living and working in rural and remote Australia.

Rural Minds workshops address mental well-being issues in a safe and relaxed way. Participants will have an opportunity to chat about their experiences and learn more about different aspects of mental health and well-being.

For Individuals

Rural Minds Workshops are a relaxed way to learn how to maintain mental well-being.

For Communities

Rural Minds Workshops are a relaxed way to learn how to maintain good mental health.

Rural Minds workshops are delivered for small groups between 10-20 people. Presenters will guide the group through the workshop material, encouraging group participation and activities. Participants receive a Rural Minds training workbook, passport to mental health and certificate of attendance.

Rural Minds Youth

Rural Minds Youth

About the program

Rural Minds Youth is an opportunity for young people growing up, living and working in rural and remote Australia to chat about a whole lot of stuff that affects them.

Evolving from the adult Rural Minds program, Rural Minds Youth is presented in a way that is sensitive and safe for a younger audience aged between 12 and 20 years old.

For Young People

Rural Minds Youth Workshops address mental wellbeing issues that affect young people in a safe and relaxed way.

For Schools & Organisations

Rural Minds Youth Workshops address mental wellbeing issues that affect young people in a safe and relaxed way.

Participants will have an opportunity to chat about their experiences and learn how to maintain mental wellbeing. Learn more by downloading the Rural Minds program brochure.

Rural Minds Youth allows for an adaptable, group-based delivery, suitable for school environments and community health organisations.

Workshops can be delivered either as a single day workshop, 2 half day workshops or as individual units that are delivered over a number of days or weeks. Participants receive a Rural Minds Youth training workbook, passport to mental health and certificate of attendance.

Become a presenter

Presenters are key to delivering Rural Minds across Australia.

Rural Minds Presenters have good knowledge of mental health and well-being, experience in teaching and facilitating groups, and passion for supporting mental well-being in their community.

Rural and Remote Mental Health will train and accredit eligible individuals to deliver Rural Minds and Rural Minds Youth workshops.

More details

To be eligible to undertake Presenter training, candidates will need the following:

  • Participation in a Rural Minds or Rural Minds Youth workshop in the past 12 months (desirable)
  • Qualification in mental health or mental health training (eg. LivingWorks safeTALK, Mental Health First Aid)
  • Good knowledge of signs and symptoms of mental ill-health and pathways for help
  • Personal or professional experience supporting people with mental ill-health
  • Respectful attitudes towards people with mental ill-health
  • Knowledge of mental health services
  • Qualification in education or training and/or experience teaching and facilitating groups
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Enthusiasm to deliver RRMH program workshops
  • A plan or organisational support to deliver RRMH program workshops
  • Hold a valid Working With Children Check from your state/territory of residence (requirement for Rural Minds Youth Presenters)

Train the Presenter training is a two-day workshop that will provide the understanding, confidence and essential knowledge required to deliver the program workshops in your community.

New Presenters are provided with a Presenter’s manual, presentation, videos, promotional templates and certificate upon completion.

Trained Presenters will receive ongoing support from RRMH and Rural Minds Trainers.

Cost of Presenter Training: $1,540 (inc. GST) per person

To maintain accreditation, Presenters must:

  • Register planned Rural Minds workshops with RRMH
  • Provide each participant with a workshop training pack purchased from RRMH
  • Deliver a minimum of 2 program workshops per year

If the minimum number of program workshops are not completed, Presenters are required to complete a refresher workshop.
